Tell me about your journey and how you got to where you are today.
My journey with FBT began as a client. I joined FBT’s 30 day jumpstart program in the spring of 2016 after hearing wonderful things about the training facility from friends. I had no idea what I had been missing in my fitness routine until I found it at FBT. A healthy community that supports one another to stay on track, people who love like family. When Pearla told me about FBT’s Apprenticeship program to become a coach it was the opportunity I did not want to miss. “You mean I’ll get paid to workout?” I said. I completed the program in 3 months when Pearla offered me a permanent position at FBT. The way Pearla supports her staff and clients is unparalleled to none. About a year later Pearla offered me the General Management position which I eagerly accepted. I am so thankful to be a part of such an amazing team. I also couldn’t imagine living without this wonderful community of people trying to better themselves. I joined FBT at the end of my 30 day jumpstart and never looked back.

Tell me about your journey and how you got to where you are today.
My journey started with FBT when I said “yes” to participate in a Transformation Challenge. I was never one to work out at a gym but the people made me want to show up to every training session I could, week after week. By the end of the challenge I knew I needed to stay. When I was approached by Pearla to join the staff, I gladly said yes. It is wonderful to come in to the facility and be a part of the supportive community and encouraging environment.

Tell me about your journey and how you got to where you are today.
When I joined FBT I was searching for a way to incorporate exercise and fitness into my lifestyle. My occupation places me primarily at a desk working on a computer, and I had gotten to the point where basic movements (getting out of the chair, reaching for an item on a shelf, etc.) were difficult or painful. I had also started speaking about some of my favorite activities (water skiing, racquetball) in the past tense. In the last 4 1/2 years as a member at FBT I have lost 20 pounds and converted probably another 20 from fat to muscle. I’m very active and have fallen in love with obstacle course racing. About a year ago I was offered a coaching position at FBT, an opportunity for which I am grateful.

What is your favorite quote?
“The question isn’t who is going to let me; it’s who is going to stop me.” (paraphrased from “Atlas Shrugged” by Ayn Rand)

What is your favorite exercise?
How does one categorize an exercise as their ‘favorite’? If it’s one that you can do well, then a pushup. If it’s one that gives visible results, then the burpee.

What is your favorite food?
My favorite HEALTHY food is chicken salad made with avocado in lieu of mayonaise.

What accomplishment are you are most proud of?
In 2019 I completed my first Spartan Trifecta, consisting of a Sprint obstacle race (5k, 20 obstacles), a Super race (approx 8 miles, 25+ obstacles), and a Beast (15 miles, 30+ obstacles). My workouts at FBT made this possible.

What is your next goal?
In 2021 I turn 60. I plan on not only completing another Trifecta, but to place in my age group at one or more of the races. From a coaching perspective my next goal is a fitness certification (personal trainer, health fitness, etc.)

When I moved up to NH I had really no full knowledge about how to workout. Then I came in one day after being offered a session and I was hooked. Looking back from where I was a year ago and today I have more confidence in myself as an individual. I have learned so many things from the other coaches and even the members.

What is your favorite exercise?   Pike ups

What is your favorite food?   Steak and veggies

Tell me about your journey and how you got to where you are today.
After losing a close family friend, I needed an outlet to work through the grief. FBT provided me with a way to get up and get moving, live a fulfilled life, and cherish relationships.

What is your favorite quote?
I have many favorite quotes but this speaks to me in the new year. . . “Your best doesn’t mean pushing yourself to your breaking point. Your best means giving the best you can do while being the best you. Get enough sleep, give yourself breaks, and listen to your limits. Your best is when you are happy, healthy, and well balanced.”

What is your favorite exercise?
My best exercise is jumping rope–it is where I stand out at FBT. And its a great way to tone the legs and thighs!

What is your favorite food?
My favorite food is now kale, thanks to FBT! It’s easy to grow, inexpensive, tasty, and loaded with nutrients.

What accomplishment are you are most proud of?
Of course, I am most proud of my family. At FBT I am most proud that I can now do exercises that I never thought I would. . . like box jumps, push ups, planks, and rope slams. I am proud to be able to extend my exercise focus in many areas of my life like outdoor sports–all because of the solid base developed at FBT.

What is your next goal?
My 2020 goal is to stay focused by maintaining current level of healthful living, clean eating, fitness routines, and avoiding another flare up. I’m turning 50 this year and plan to run my first 1/2 marathon in April!
