Detox Day 1: Carrot – Banana Muffins
Here are Fit Body’s we are always up for a good ol’ challenge, and nothing says challenge more than a DETOX! It’s that time of year to clean out that gunk and really dial in on our nutrition! Plus, it’s a new way to challenge ourselves.
There are three different levels to this detox. You can given the choice to choose what level you’d like too eliminate.
Level 1: On level one the only foods excluded are: Grains, dairy, sugar, soy, corn, alcohol, legumes (including peanuts), and white potatoes. Sweet potatoes are okay, and there are no limits to fruits choices or vegetables (other then anything listed above). Meats, healthy fats, nuts & seeds are okay.
Level 2: On level two we have to exclude: grains, dairy, sugar, soy, corn, alcohol, legumes (including peanuts), and white potatoes. Fruit choices are limited to 0-2 servings a day, with a list of fruits to choose from. Meats and vegetabales are still included.
Level 3: Limits the diet for the next 21 days to mainly meats, vegetables, and healthy fats. Only water.
Here is a fun recipe we made this cloudy afternoon:
recipe adapted from paleonewbie.com
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Dry Ingredients, Mix well in a large bowl:
- 1 1/4 cup almond flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tbs cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp allspice
- 1/2 chopped raw pecans
Wet Ingredients: Mix in a small bowl, separate.
- 3 farm fresh eggs (We get ours from Hidden Brook Farm in Kensinsgton) – whisked
- 2 organic bananas – mashed
- 1/2 cup almond butter
- 1/3 cup raw honey (We bought ours are The Farm at Eastmans Corner)
- 1/4 cup organic coconut oil
- 1 tsp organic vanilla extract (we got ours at Lorax Landscaping)
- 1 cup organic shredded carrots
Combined both bowls together and mix well. Fill muffin cups 2/3 full, and bake for 22-25 minutes. I sprinkled organic unsweetened shredded coconut on top of ours before we baked them. Cool and enjoy- they are delicious! AND PALEO!
