Athlete of the Month Profiles

January 2019: Taffy Jervey

What brought you to Fit Body Transformations?

I saw a couple of Facebook posts which made me look at it more closely. I was looking for someplace that would be able to help me with my specific issues and needs. I wanted more than a place with machines and I was impressed with the FMS and the nutrition plan and the focus on what each person needed to get healthier.

What are your goals?

To get healthy – loss weight, strengthen areas in need so my muscles can compensate for the arthritis that weakens my connective tissue, improve my balance and stability.

How do you make time to workout?

I am blessed that I was able to retire early so I have had time to set new priorities and getting healthier is a priority so I make sure to get in my workouts. At this point, even if I end up with more commitments I will make sure I get my workouts in.

What do you enjoy about Fit Body Transformations?

I love that it is like a new family. The coaches get to know you and really work to help you. The members help each other and get to know one another. It is more than a gym and certainly not like the impersonal big box gyms.

What has been your biggest challenge since starting at Fit Body Transformations?

Doing the challenge. Aside from the posting and technology issues, I do not do well with feeling deprived. I much prefer the other plan that does not deprive me. Will go back to that soon.

What do you do in your spare time when you’re not at Fit Body Transformations?

Golf, bowl, prepare for my next chapter.

How do you stay motivated?

Seeing the progress on the scale, the need for smaller clothes, the ability to do things I could not do when I started and the desire to do things I have not done in years keeps me motivated.

What’s your favorite quote?

Good question. Different quotes strike me at different times as I evolve and as my needs change, but one that I have hanging in my house is “Friends are the family you meet along the way” I love that I have several families.

If you could have any superpower, what would you choose?

The ability to bring people back to the unique selves they were born as without the insecurities and the results of shaming and bullying that happen to us as we grow. If we all had that self of childhood, there would be self love and love for one another which could bring us peace in this world.
