Fit Body Transformations Raises $2,000 for NH Homeless Veteran Project
Fit Body Transformations has three major focuses: Functional Fitness, Balanced Nutrition, and Building Community!
Through Community Building events such as charity fundraisers, Fit Body is able to impact the lives of our friends, families and neighbors.
On April 29th, Pearla Phillips, owner of Fit Body Transformations and her team of coaches gathered local businesses at Exeter Bowling Lanes and raised over $2,000 which was donated to Peter Macdonald of Veteran Resort Chapel.
Macdonald, once a homeless veteran himself, decided with his wife to invest their retirement savings into an 11 acre lot in Lee, NH. They then built a chapel, which also has a living space for a homeless veteran to stay at no cost.
The vision is to keep on building, offering minihouses to homeless combat veterans.
According to Macdonald, 635 homeless Veterans were left on the streets last winter (2015). “I had no idea how many homeless veterans are right here in our own backyard,” said Phillips.
The minihouses will feature a pullout bed, kitchen sink, shower, heat and composting toilet. Macdonald said anyone who needs the shelter can stay as long as they wish, if they refrain from alcohol and drugs, and are not violent.
We would like to thank everyone who sponsored this event, without you we couldn’t make this happen.
Providing at least one fundraising event per month including free family workouts, Phillips states, “ We are here to do whatever we can to give back”.
All of our charity events, which are listed monthly at www.FBTNation.com are open to the public ~ Everyone’s Welcome! The only prerequisite is you have to be ready to have fun while giving back.
Last month Phillips and her team donated several bags of clothing and boxes of toiletries to the Liberty House in Manchester.
